Our primary goal as designers and cabinetmakers
is to craft environmentally-sound, personalized kitchen furniture
that will be a lasting investment plus
a source of pride and joy to our clients.
About our cabinets:
Cases: Constructed of birch plywood with 3/4" sides
and bottom and 1/2" back. Although roughly twice the price
of the standard 5/8" melamine covered particle or fibreboard,
the additional expense is justified due to the 7-ply plywood's
strength and screw-holding ability. We use no formaldehyde-releasing
materials and have our own kiln for optimum curing.
Drawers: Sides are constructed with 5/8" solid maple with birch plywood
bottoms and through dovetail joinery in all corners that provide beauty and
strength for a lifetime of use.
Doors: Frame and panel doors, both flat and raised,
are constructed with solid wood chosen by our client (never plywood or veneer)
that we hand-pick and match for color and grain. Glass doors with muntins
are true divided (not snap-in grilles as most cabinet companies
offer). We use domestic hardwoods and avoid rainforest-destroying
materials.
Mouldings and Trim: We craft our own mouldings and
other trim out of solid wood. We can design and craft wooden
pulls to compliment the look of the cabinets and kitchen.

Finish: A hand-rubbed, penetrating, non-toxic oil
finish is applied after numerous sanding sequences. The oil
finish hardens the wood fibres and becomes hard to the touch
after it cures. The finish is durable and transparent so the
wood itself becomes the decoration. The wood has clarity and
depth, unlike a sprayed finish which sits atop the wood like
a plastic coat. If the wood becomes scratched or scraped, the
finish is easily repaired without having to strip the whole
finish. Also, we can apply a painted finish, if specified.
|
Hardware: Only premium quality hardware is used on our cabinetry
and furniture. Generally,
we use European concealed cup hinges and full-extension ball-bearing
drawer glides with
at least a 100 lb. static load rating.
Installation: We insist upon delivering and installing our
cabinetry and the cost of installation is
included in our cabinet price. The fact that we install our cabinetry
is an advantage to our
clients because it insures that there will be no lack of communication
or misunderstanding
between cabinetmaker and installer. Also, this means that our same
high level of
craftmanship is continued throughout the entire process.
We concentrate on your project. You can depend on us to answer your
questions, address
your concerns, arrive when expected, and always be detail-oriented.
